High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS)
High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems is a new technology to the Gulf of Mexico and Stress Subsea is committed to facilitating its use in the region. As with all new technologies, installing HIPPS in the Gulf will require both technology development and interface coordination with regulatory authorities. Stress Subsea has acted as technical consultant and interface manager on recent HIPPS technology studies. In addition, Stress Subsea is actively involved in the development of recommended practices through its membership in the API 17O committee.
Stress Subsea is uniquely positioned to advance new technologies related to subsea systems. The organization consists of senior personnel in both subsea equipment and pipeline disciplines. Through its affiliation with Stress Engineering, significant riser and floating system capabilities further support the overall technical muscle that Stress Subsea can bring to bear on a project. Last, but certainly not least, the industry leading analysis and test capabilities of Stress Engineering, and its division, Mohr Engineering, provide rapid feedback on design performance that is essential to timely development and installation of new technologies.
Stress Subsea scope of activities has included:

Identification of technical gaps to existing technology
Research into prior systems installed in North Sea
 Development of concept alternatives
Development of a Level of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and Safety     Integrity Level (SIL) assessment
Analysis of critical functional performance of various design     alternatives
Identification of risks - HAZID / HAZOP
 Cost-benefit analysis of technical alternatives
 Assessment project schedule risks
